Know Your Vendor.

• Check the identity of your vendors before making any deal
• Purchase from those online shops that have appropriate domain names and clear contact information, including phones, emails, street address, support team contacts, etc.
• Send a test message (e.g. ask a question about a certain product) to vendor to check how soon and clearly they reply to your request

• Check out local agents in your region that support the warranty
• Know how to cancel your order on the seller’s website or get a refund if something goes wrong
• Find out if you are able to claim postage costs back from the retailer in case a product is returned

Keep Your Identity Safe.

• Be sure on your vendor’s website  there is a privacy policy that guarantees your personal information is in safe
• Check out whether the privacy policy describes how the seller treats for your privacy, what information it will collect from you and for what purposes, etc.
• Find out if you can opt out of being placed on any third-party lists, unless you give explicit consent
• Identify how long the vendor will keep your personal data and whether it will destroy the data when your order is fulfilled

Calculate Costs.

• Know what currency you will need to deal with
• Be sure your credit card allows you to deal with the currency
• Find out the exchange rate
• Review product price and total costs before you start ordering
• Be sure the costs include packing, delivery, taxes, and any other associated expenses
• Compare the vendor’s product price with other vendors’ similar offerings to make sure you deal with a cost-effective offer
• Consider requesting the seller for additional discounts and cut-offs
• Check whether your vendor offers both "regular" and "express" delivery options
• Calculate the maximum amount you'll have to pay (especially if you’re buying from overseas)

• Consider paying by your credit card in order to get extra protection if things go wrong
• Prefer paying via your electronic wallet (e.g. PayPal) if the website supports this option
• Know any limitations of the vendor’s website security to recognize the risk of losing your money
• Consider having a separate credit card for online shopping, with lower limits
