1. The on-site inspection preparation:
- Create a plan of what you would like to inspect (applicable points of the project);
- Schedule on-site visit to project facilities, but do not announce this date to everyone;
- Keep confidence on the date and time of your on-site inspection, until the very late moment;
- Involve everyone who owns key responsibilities in different areas of the project;
2. Facility Inspection:
- All the tools and machinery utilized on the project are properly maintained and serviced;
- The equipment and tools are professionally operated, without even minor allowance of some quality-threatening incidents or employee health-threatening situations;
- The project’s on-site infrastructure and communications are well-kept and secured, so there are no out-of-order elements which haven’t been registered or properly approached yet;
- The dangerous tools and substances are safely stored and proficiently used;
- Inspect how properly the raw materials and other items are stored and utilized;
- Inspect how well the safety-assurance systems and procedures are kept to prevent emergencies;
- Inspect the entire organization of project’s on-site facilities to check:
- If everything existing in reality is captured and registered in appropriate documents;
- If everything worth of managerial attention is communicated to upper levels;
- If everything problematic is approached and rectified/remedied effectively;
- If everything quality- and safety-related (people and environment) is secured;
- If no signs of disorganization or demoralization are noticeable;
- If no evidences of corruption and stealing are detected;
- If everything works just well as it is required to meet the Project Plan;
3. HR Inspection:
- The moral health of the team to check if no serious misconducts occur, including specific HR metrics such as employee turnover, etc;
- The team factor to know if the collaboration in the collective is effective enough;
- The project processes and their results to figure out how often and how severely the project’s development and outcomes have been suffering from the human factor;
- The competency of employees (including available certifications and qualifications) to know if they can cope with their responsibilities and duties well enough;
- The employee relationships and files to check how well employees perform in terms of their positions and roles;
- Inspect how effectively employee management policies are carried out, by checking direct and indirect HR metrics, such employee retention, satisfaction, etc;
- Inspect if all employees act appropriately to procedures and expectations they should adhere to:
- If they respect, follow and maintain proper time regime and working discipline;
- If they properly obey rules and requirements (safety, seniority, etc);
- If they accept and realize the project mission and ideology (in respect to their positions);
4. Contractors Inspection:
- Check all currently running contracts and review their terms in order to be continually aware of stipulated expectations for both parties;
- Inspect how well contractors carry out their duties in terms of quality and timeliness of work delegated to them and deliverables expected from them;
- Inspect available situation to check if there are no expectations violated by contractors;
- Know if the executives from your organization, collaborating with the contractors, are satisfied with their competency and quality of services provided;
- Inspect how well (promptly, effectively) the project organization responses to resolve any issues and obstacles coming up from contractors;
