Pool Cleaning Checklist:

• Every time prior to retracting the pool cover from the pool surface you need to clean it from any debris (to avert any possible damage of equipment) – you may simply use a hose to rinse out all rubbish, dead leaves, etc from the pool cover;
• Make sure you have all necessary tools: skimming net, pool vacuum cleaner and algae brush;
• Pick up any leaves and debris from the water surface (use your skimming net for this action);
• Frequently scrub the walls, flooring and steps of the pool;

Drain your pool and use a long handled rough scrubbing brush to prevent algae build ups. First scrub the walls and pool edges, and then you can clean the floor;

• Clean the tile properly with a soft brush and a special pool tile cleaner;
• Clean the walls appropriately to treat material they are made of (cement, vinyl or fiberglass);
• Vacuum the pool once a week;
• Regularly clean (vacuum) the surrounding area of the pool to get rid of any leaves and debris to prevent blowing them into the water;
• Maintain water level at about the halfway point on the skimmer inlet;
• Clean out the skimmer strainer basket of your pool;
• Cleanse the pump strainer basket (it should be located at the front of your pool pump);
• Inspect the pool filter and check out pressure in it while the pump is running:

High filter pressure shows that pump is clogged, so you need to disassemble and clean it out.

• Periodically turn your pumping system to work in reverse regime (to clean out inner build-ups);
• Make sure that all equipment is operating properly (there are no visible leaks or other issues);
• Check and remove any debris from the pool equipment as appropriate (such as pool motors or deck drains);
• Regularly check chemical balance of the water in your pool (especially if water turns cloudy):
  • You can buy a water testing kit to study how hard or soft the water is;
  • You will need to keep pH levels to be around 7.0 to 7.1;
  • Chlorine levels to keep the pool sanitary should be 1.0 to 3.0 ppm (parts per million).
  • Hardness 200 - 400 ppm;
  • Cyanuric acid 30 - 50 ppm for chlorine pools;
  • Cyanuric acid 50 – 100 for salt pools;
  • Total alkalinity 80 - 150 ppm;
  • pH and Chlorine levels to be checked weekly, other indicators monthly;
